CLEAN YOUR JEWELLERY

We all need a little sparkle and shine to pick us up every so often, even more so in these times. So, why not clean your jewellery and get it ready to be shown off again when we can. Making your jewellery dazzle can be done with things that most of us already have in the store cupboard.

SILVER JEWELLERY

What you will need:
White vinegar and baking soda

Method:
Simply soak your silver jewellery in half a glass of white vinegar and two heaped tablespoons of baking soda. Leave to soak for a good few hours. Your silver jewellery can then be buffed to remove tarnish and reveal its original shine.

GOLD JEWELLERY

What you will need:
Warm water and a mild dishwashing liquid
Method:
Go through the same process as above.

DIAMOND JEWELLERY

What you will need:
Polish diamonds with a soft toothbrush
Method:
A toothbrush will allow you to gently remove any dirt collected in the mount easily.

THINGS TO AVOID WHEN CLEANING JEWELLERY

  • Harsh chemicals that are too acidic and can damage metals
  • Avoid toothpaste as it can be abrasive and leave scratches on softer stones
  • Avoid excess rubbing as you can scratch the surfaces
  • Use the right cleaning equipment for your metal
  • Use a gentle microfibre cloth to polish jewellery

Cleaning your jewellery at home couldn’t be easier and it will feel like brand new all over again.
